Some of the biggest names in national and international design will be gathered on December 8 at the Italian Embassy in Brasília; December 9 and 10, at Memorial da América Latina, in São Paulo; and December 11 and 12, at Cine Odeon in Rio de Janeiro for what promises to be one of the greatest events of world design: the International Design Seminar Brasil Telecom.
With lectures given by designers, critics, and acknowledged editors in the global scene, the main objective of the Seminar will be to present production and creativity in the design markets, analyzing strategies from Brazil and other countries. Meanwhile, the stages of the process of formation of the identity of the product will be discussed, from its creation up to its export without forgetting production, execution, commercialization, and publicity.
The focus of the International Seminar will be the concept of identity in design, which, according to curator Nicola Goretti, means presenting in Brazil the existing creative resources, especially in developing countries, in opposition to global design, a design that no longer recognizes its own local cultures, which is the reason for separation between rich and poor regions of the planet. The broader intention of the International Seminar will be to stimulate the production of design and Brazilian handicraft, using creativity and the concept of micro-economies in small communities, revealing forms of cultural identity, in opposition to other realities.
For the discussion of the theme identity, lecturers from Brazil, Italy, Spain, Argentina, and Portugal, among others, were invited. This way, the participant can hear renowned professionals. Some examples are the Brazilians Fernando and Humberto Campana, the Italians Cristina and Massimo Morozzi, and the Portuguese Joana Vasconcelos, among others.
The event will be produced by Ivana Valença and Nicola Goretti, from Grupo AG, with the sponsorship of Brasil Telecom and the participation of various Brazilian and international institutions and companies.
